General Breed Information
The Knabstrupper is a horse breed originating from Denmark. Knabstruppers have been bred since 1671 and were primarily used by nobility and royal families. At the time, they were mainly used for haute école dressage.
Knabstruppers are baroque horses, as they descend from baroque horses from Spain. They have a height of around 1.60m. Over time, the Knabstrupper has developed different breeding types: the baroque type, the mini Knabstrupper, and the sport type. The Knabstrupper in My Horsez is based on the original baroque Knabstrupper.
Knabstruppers are commonly found in colours such as black, bay, and chestnut. However, cream shades like buckskin or cremello also occur. They are often mistakenly identified as grey due to their appaloosa patterns with a lot of white. However, grey is not an officially recognised colour. Although they are known for their spotted patterns, Knabstruppers can also appear solid-coloured (without spots).
Knabstruppers are friendly horses with a cooperative and pleasant temperament.
